Kali Hydriodicum
Iodide of Potassium
The profuse, watery, acrid coryza that the drug pro- duces serves as a sure guiding symptom, especially when associated with pain in frontal sinus. It acts promi- nently on fibrous and connective tissues, producing in- filtration, cedema, etc. Glandular swellings. Purpura and hremorrhagic diathesis. Syphilis may be indicated in all stages: 1. In acute form with evening remitting fever, going off in nightly perspiration. 2. Second stage, mucous membranes and skin ulcerations. 3. Ter- tary syinptoms; nodes. Give material doses only.
Mind
Sad, anxious; harsh temper. Irritable; con- gestion to head, heat and throbbing.
Head
Pain through sidrs of head. Violent head- ache. Craniurn swells up in hard lump. Pain intense over eyes and root of nose. Brain feels enlarged. Hard nodes, with severe pain. Facial neuralgia. Lancinating pain in upper jaw.
Eyes
Conjunctiva -red, injected; profuse lachry- mation. Syphilitic iritis. Pustular keratitis and chemosis. Bony tumors of the orbit. Ear. -- Noises in ear. Boring pain in ears.
Nose
Red, swollen. Tip of nose red; profuse, acrid, hot, atcry, thin discharge. Osana, with pcrforatcd septum. Sneezing. Nasal catarrh, involving frontal sinus.S Stuffiness and dryness of nose, without dis- charge. Profuse, cool, greenish, unirritating discharges.
Stomach
Saliva increased. Faintness at epigas- trium. Cold food and drink, especially milk, aggra- vate. Much thirst. Throbbing, painful burning. Flatu- lence.
Female
Menses late, profuse. During menses uterus feels as if squeezed. Corrosive leucorrhcea, with subacute inflammatory conditions of the womb in young married women.
Respiratory
Violent cough; worse in morning. Pulmonary cedema. Larynx feels raw.1 Laryngeal edema. Awakes choking. Expectoration like soap- suds, grccish. Pneumonia, when hepatization com- mences. Pneumococcic meningitis. Stitching pains through lungs to back. Asthma. Dyspncea on ascend- ing, with pain in heart. Hydrothorax. [Merc. sulph.] Pleuritic effusion. Cold travels downzeard to chest.
Extremities
Severe bone-pains. Periosteum thick- ened, especially tibia; sensitive to touch. [ Kali b.; -1saf.] Rheumatism; pains worse at night and in damp weather. Contraction of joints. Rheumatism of knees zcith effusion. Pain in small of back and coccyx. Pain s o worse at night and lying on affected side. Formication of lower extremities when sitting, better lying down.
Skin
Purple spots; worse on legs. Acne, hydroa. Small boils. Glands enlarged, indurated. Hives. Rough Hodulcs all .over, worse any covering; heat of body in- tense. Fissured anus of infants. Tendency to cedema- tons swellings, eyelids, mouth, uvula, etc. Acne rosacea.
Modalities
IW'orse, arm clothing, warm room, at n!ight, damp weather. Better, motion, open air.
Relationships
Antidote: Hcpar. Compare: Iod., Mercur.; Sulph.; Meser. Chophecnce, a Hindoo remedy for syphilitic eruptions, ulcerations and bone-pains. Used in tincture.
Dose
Crude drug, in material officinal dosage and when strirtly homceopathically indicated, as in acute respiratory affections tlie third potency. 429
